{"id":106149,"date":"2025-05-22T14:00:25","date_gmt":"2025-05-22T18:00:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/editionap.ca\/?p=106149"},"modified":"2026-02-17T21:52:18","modified_gmt":"2026-02-17T20:52:18","slug":"east-hawkesbury-seeks-storm-sewer-funds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tribune-express.ca\/en\/actualites\/east-hawkesbury-seeks-storm-sewer-funds\/","title":{"rendered":"East Hawkesbury seeks storm sewer funds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Some new provincial infrastructure funding aid is available and East Hawkesbury Township wants to get some of that money for storm sewer work.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Township council approved a proposal from administration to send an application to a new municipal infrastructure assistance program that the provincial government has announced.<\/p>\n<p>The Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program: Health and Safety Water Stream (MHIP) aids municipalities with infrastructure work that deals with their water systems, with emphasis on projects that deal with the health and safety needs of residents.<\/p>\n<p>The township has doing some improvements to the storm sewer system in the Village of St-Eug\u00e8ne. Because of limited funding available in the municipal budget, those improvements have focused on replacing parts of the western portion of the village\u2019s storm sewer system.<\/p>\n<p>The new provincial aid program could help the township deal with the eastern section of the village storm sewers, which administration noted are \u201cshovel ready\u201d with plans and cost estimates all worked out. Administration also noted that the United Counties of Prescott-Russell (UCPR) wants to do repaving work on Labrosse Street, which is a designated county connector road. The eastern part of the storm sewer system needs replacing before that happens.<\/p>\n<p>Council agreed to have administration work with the UCPR on a joint application for funding from the MHIP for money to help with the costs of finishing the storm sewer system replacement work in St-Eug\u00e8ne.
