Council approves refit work for Cécile Bridge

Traffic at the intersection of Main Street and McGill Street may have some extra delays this year while the Cécile Bridge gets a makeover.

Council approved a report from the public works department on plans for rehabilitation work on the bridge. The contract for the work will go to KB Civil Construction Ltd., who submitted the lowest of two bids for the project.

The company’s bid of $668,976.99, not including HST, falls within the 2025 municipal budget allocation for the project.

Cécile Bridge crosses Hawkesbury Creek where it flows along McGill Street past the Main Street intersection and past Chenail Boulevard on the way to where it empties into the Ottawa River.

Along with the construction contract for KB Civil Construction Ltd., council also approved a contract to Stantec Consulting Ltd. For engineering services, including inspection of the bridge site and work, for the rehabilitation project. The contract value is $90,000, not including HST.

Rehabilitation work on Cécile Bridge involves complete reconstruction of the bridge deck and roadway portiion and also reconstruction of the wings of the bridge, which includes the guard walls, guard rails and pedestrian walkway. Timing of the bridge rehabilitation will be announced at a later date.
