Sunday’s game against the Raiders in Nepean is pushed back but the Hawks enjoyed a home-ice win against the Pembroke Lumber Kings last Friday.
Two of the three mid-November games for Hawkesbury went ahead as scheduled with mixed results for the Hawks.
The Ottawa Junior Senators took the Hawks down 3-1 last Wednesday at the Jim Durrell Sports Complex.
The Senators dominated first period with two unanswered goals against the Hawks. Scoring for Ottawa were Hunter Robitaille, assisted by Cedrick St-Pierre and Justin Mongeon, and Ethan Lobe, with help from Caleb Mead and Owen Traynor.
Second period saw neither team able to make a successful run on each other’s net. About six minutes into third period, Vital Dinis put Hawkesbury on the scoreboard, with help from Matthew Itzkovitz and Adam Racine. Just before the end of the game, Robitaille fired in one last goal for Ottawa on an empty Hawkesbury net. Mongeon and Merlin Offman assisted on the goal.
Last Friday night at the Robert Hartley Sports Complex, the Hawks cut down the Lumber Kings 4-1, taking the lead in second period after a scoreless first period for both teams.
A power-play push early in the period by Matthew Itzkovitz got the game going for the Hawks. Assisting him on the play were Michael Minchello and Vital Dinis.
About four minutes later Ben Lacoste scored a shorthanded goal for Hawkesbury, with help from Edward Downey and Adam Racine. Final goal of the period came off the stick of Carter Green at the midmark, with assists from Jeremy St. Louis and Albert Genest.
Alex Fortier put the Lumber Kings on the scoreboard three minutes into third period, with some help from Colin Epps and Ryan Beaulieu. During the last half of the period Racine scored the final goal for Hawkesbury, assisted by Marc-Olivier Lauzon and Andrew Feldman.
Sunday’s game against the Nepean Raiders is postponed. The Raiders are in Hawkesbury this Friday and then the following Saturday the Hawks head to Renfrew to face the Timber Wolves. November 25 the Hawks are in Navan to play against the Grads.
