East Hawkesbury resident dies in two-vehicle collision south of Vankleek Hill

A 59-year-old farm tractor operator has died following a two-vehicle collision just south of Vankleek Hill.

The incident occurred on Monday, September 7, 2026, just before 9 p.m. on Highway 34 near Ridge Road. The initial investigation indicated that a passenger vehicle ran into the rear of a trailer being towed by the driver of the farm tractor.

The OPP identified the tractor driver as Pierre Cusson of East Hawkesbury. Despite life-saving efforts Cusson was pronounced dead. The driver of the passenger vehicle was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

The Hawkesbury OPP detachment is investigating and is asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or saw the farm tractor travelling on Highway 34 prior to 9:00 p.m. to contact investigators.
