The Prescott and Russell Residence Foundation rallies the community

With construction on the new Prescott and Russell Residence officially completed, the Prescott and Russell Residence Foundation welcomes the strong support of the community and continues its efforts to improve the living conditions of residents and support staff.

Guided by its mission to provide residents with a dignified living environment tailored to their needs, the organization is pursuing new fundraising initiatives.

Earlier this year, the Foundation concluded its major fundraising campaign «Lift Me Up,» which raised and contributed $508,544.29 to equip all 204 rooms with lift motors, ensuring safe care for both residents and caregiving staff as soon as the first occupants arrive.

In an interview, Denise Robitaille, president of the Prescott and Russell Residence Foundation, provided a very positive assessment of the charitable organization’s contribution to the opening of the new residence.

«We reached our goal in record time. Our priority is truly to mobilize the community and our generous partners around concrete projects that make a real difference in the lives of the residents,» emphasized Robitaille.

Building on this success, the foundation is now following up with a new initiative entitled «Wheels of Hope». This campaign aims to raise $20,000, with all proceeds going toward the purchase of an adapted vehicle.

«The goal is to offer residents the opportunity to go on outings, travel, and take part in activities outside the residence,» said Robitaille. For many seniors with reduced mobility, a simple outing represents a daily obstacle. Whether for a medical appointment, a visit with a loved one, or a community activity, the vehicle will provide safe and comfortable transportation, eliminate logistical barriers, and foster active participation in local life.»

This campaign takes the form of a raffle, with only 1,000 tickets available at a cost of $20 each.

Thanks to the involvement of local donors, four major prizes with a total value of nearly $7,000 are up for grabs: a $3,000 gift certificate from Asselin Indépendant, a $2,000 gift certificate from Ameublement Malaket, fifty $20 gift certificates from Restaurant Déjà Vu (a total value of $1,000), and a pair of tickets to the Montreal Canadiens game against the New Jersey Devils on March 27, 2027 (an $850 value).

The draw will take place on December 5, 2026, at 10 a.m. directly at the Prescott and Russell Residence, located at 900 Spence Avenue in Hawkesbury.

Tickets can be purchased by e-transfer to mdicaire@fondation-rpr.ca or in person, cash only, at the three partner businesses during upcoming dates and times to be announced soon.

“Their commitment to the seniors in our community is essential to the success of this campaign. Thanks to their generosity, every ticket sold brings us one step closer to achieving our goal. We would also like to thank in advance everyone who purchases a ticket and helps us keep hope rolling,” said Robitaille.

For board members and volunteers, the upcoming opening of the residence marks a pivotal milestone for the region.

«The opening of the new residence represents a very significant moment and a tremendous source of pride for our foundation,» shared Mrs. Robitaille. «It marks not only the culmination of a major project for our community, but also the beginning of an entirely new chapter for the residents, who will finally be able to enjoy a modern, safe living environment adapted to their needs.”

The completion of this large-scale project reinforces the Foundation’s determination to pursue its mission, underscoring that the ongoing generosity and support of the community remain vital to ensuring the long-term well-being and dignity of our seniors.
