VCI Drama Club presents a Christmas classic for the community

The “Meanest Man in London Town” made his stage debut at last in Vankleek Hill.

The first real week of winter in Prescott and Russell has not been kind to the young actors of the VCI Drama Club as their production of the Christmas classic, ‘A Christmas Carol’ has been delayed for a magnitude of reasons, including weather. Finally, the club presented the famed Christmas story to the community on Dec,. 12.

The school auditorium was almost filled up with students, staff, and some parents eager to see the VCI Drama Club’s interpretation of the Dickens’ classic, following a script by Gary Peterson. The familiar story of “the meanest man in London Town” repenting of his miserly ways and rediscovering both the joy of Christmas and his own humanity received loud applause. The

audience itself became part of the show, serving as the corridors of time and space through which the Three Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future led Ebenezer Scrooge by the hand through his journey of rediscovery, reflection and recrimination.
