Two people charged in catalytic converter thefts

Several vehicle owners in Prescott County and the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry reported thefts of their catalytic converters between April 1, 2021 and January 16, 2022. Now, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say two of the culprits have been caught. 

Timothy Cosgrove, 23, of Montreal was charged with five counts of theft under $5000 value from a vehicle, five counts of mischief under $5000 value, one count of failure to comply with a legal undertaking, one count of conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, seven counts of failure to comply with release order, one count of obstructing an officer, one count of knowing of a prohibited or restricted weapon, one count of possessing a prohibited device or ammunition, one count of possessing a prohibited device or ammunition for a dangerous purpose, one count of possessing proceeds from property obtained by crime under $5000 value, and one count of theft over $5000 value. 

Karisa Andre-Ann Malette, 25, of North Glengarry Township was charged with two counts of theft under $5000 value from a vehicle, two counts of mischief under $5000 value, five counts of failure to comply with a legal undertaking, five counts of failure to comply with a release order, one count of possessing proceeds from property obtained by crime under $5000 value, one count of knowing there was a prohibited or restricted weapon, one count of possessing a prohibited device or ammunition for dangerous purpose, and one count of possessing a prohibited device or ammunition. 

Both were scheduled to appear in court on January 17 at the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal.
