Hawkesbury man arrested for drugs

Louka Berard, 19, of Hawkesbury is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking narcotics and also with illegal possession of marijuana for the purpose of selling it. The charges resulted from a combined investigation involving Hawkesbury OPP and the Canada Border Safety Agency. 

The two law-enforcement agencies worked on case involving trafficking in opiates. Hawkesbury OPP arrested Louka July 20 at a local store as part of the investigation. 

Police seized a number of illegal drugs, including LSD, psilocybin, oxycodone, and other substances, along with a quantity of illegal cannabis. Total street value of the drugs seized is estimated at more than $118,000. 

Also seized as part of the investigation involving Louker were an air pistol, an air soft rifle, and a vehicle. Louka was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled for a provincial court appearance August 18.
