OPP investigating suspicious fire in Hawkesbury

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a “suspicious” fire at a Hawkesbury apartment building as arson. 

The fire broke out a late in the evening on Nov. 29 at a residential apartment building on Portelance Avenue. Thirty people were displaced from the incident, and three people were taken to hospital with minor injuries. Residents who were evacuated from the building and transported to a warming centre with assistance provided by Red Cross and Victim Services Prescott-Russell.

The fire has since been extinguished but is being investigated as an arson. OPP is asking anyone who may have information or video footage related to this incident to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122, or report anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at ontariocrimestoppers.ca.
