With the municipal landfill closed, Champlain Township is introducing a temporary drop-off centre this fall to provide residents with a way to dispose of organic yard waste.

A temporary drop-off centre will be available every Saturday morning until November 14, 2026 located at the Municipal Garage, 1023 Pleasant Corner Road in Vankleek Hill. It will be open every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. free of charge.
The site is reserved for organic yard waste only, including leaves, grass clippings, garden waste and plant material, hedge and shrub trimmings, brush, small branches and twigs, pumpkins, and other untreated plant-based yard waste.

Tree branches must be tied securely in bundles and must not exceed six feet in length.

No household garbage, recycling, construction or demolition materials, furniture, appliances, hazardous waste, rocks, stumps, treated or painted wood, plastic bags, or other non-organic materials will be accepted. The temporary site is intended strictly for organic yard waste.
