Wanted man arrested after walking on road, causing accident

A wanted 24-year-old man is facing multiple charges after police responded to a collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle on Front Road during a snowstorm Wednesday evening.

Officers with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Hawkesbury detachment were called to the scene just east of Hawkesbury shortly before 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4. They found the pedestrian, who was dressed in all black and walking in the middle of the highway, had been struck by a vehicle.

Police identified the man as Christopher Myre, of Hawkesbury, and discovered he was wanted in connection with previous charges.

Myre was arrested at the scene and now faces charges of obstructing a peace officer, failure to comply with a release order, and failing to keep to the left edge of the roadway as a pedestrian.

According to police, Myra was transported to hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries following the collision. He is now being held for bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, Dec. 5, at the L’Orignal Court of Justice.
