Curling teams earn medals at EOSSAA championships

Prescott and Russell has two champion-class junior curling teams now.

Vankleek Hill Collegiate won the gold in the mixed team event at the Eastern Ontario Secondary School Athletic Associations (EOSSAA) Curling championships in Brockville last week.

Le Sommet earned silver in the men’s team division.

Both teams qualified for EOSSAA after their winning routines on the ice at the PRSSAA championships.

The VCI rink beat Cornwall’s L’Héritage rink 7-6 in an extra end, after VCI had gone undefeated in the round-robin sessions.

Bringing the trophy and gold medals home to VCI are rink lead Ella MacKinnon, second, Mathias Boisvert, third Madison Parisien, and skip Rafael MacKinnon.

Representing Le Sommet at the EOSSAA Curling Championships were skip Tristan Das Eiras, third Pearson Fraser, second Cole Williams, and lead Alexis Charbonneau. This is Das Eiras’ fourth season on the team.
