Everyone loves to check out what's under the hood at the auto show.

Sunday at the Auto Show

Rain in the afternoon brought the annual Hawkesbury Auto Show to an earlier end than planned but everyone enjoyed seeing the best examples of classic autos and must-drive cars on display.

“We were very fortunate with the weather,” said Patrick Denis, president of the Hawkesbury Auto Club. “People are always happy to go to an auto show.”

More than 200 vehicles, from Jeeps to Model A Fords, were parked all along both sides of Main Street in downtown Hawkesbury. People who were unable to attend the Friday Evening Pre-Show the night before, enjoyed the opportunity Sunday morning for close-up views of everything from award-winning Shelbys to a celebrity reproduction of Herbie the Love Bug, and a chance to talk with the owners of all the cars.

There were several display kiosks featuring collectible toy cars, classic car parts for sale, and other car-related merchandise. Live music performances at each end of the street also provided a party atmosphere.

The Hawkesbury Auto Club had its own information kiosk on site with a 50-50 draw fundraiser to help the Hawkesbury Central Food Bank.

Denis credited local sponsors, club volunteers, car owners, and everyone who came out for the morning for the success of the show.

“Without these people, we wouldn’t even have a show,” he said.
