After three decades at Higginson House, Arbor Gallery in Vankleek Hill is moving to a new location.

When it reopens following a holiday break on January 16, 2025, the gallery will welcome visitors to its new address at 103 High St.

The move comes as Higginson House, located at 36 Home Ave., requires significant renovations.

« The Gallery has had a long and storied history at Higginson House, and we respect the many memories tied to the building,” stated Artistic Director Andrea Belcham. “However, we are thrilled to have found a new, centrally located space with ample parking and fully accessible facilities.”

The new venue boasts two exhibition rooms, allowing the gallery to continue its monthly programming, including a main exhibition and two feature members as part of the Arbor Project. The building’s modern, neutral interior is expected to enhance the presentation of artworks.

Belcham confirmed that many of Arbor Gallery’s popular events and programs—such as concerts, workshops, pop-ups, and artist networking events like Chai and Chat—will continue at the new location.

Gallery board chair Jessica Sarrazin acknowledged the significance of the move.

« This is a big change for all of us. Higginson House deserves the care and renovations it needs after serving the community for so long. At the same time, our programming has grown, and we’re excited to invite the community to experience it in our new space. »

The gallery will close for its holiday break from December 16 to January 15, reopening with an exhibition featuring works by students from Vankleek Hill Collegiate Institute.
