Everything combined for a good time at this year’s Hawkesbury Country Music Festival.
“I think it was a big success,” said Yves Paquette, one of the co-founders and promoters of the annual country music event.
Paquette noted that late-July weather blessed the festival with sunshine and organizers had a good lineup of local and regional musicians to take to the stage at Pioneer Place.
“Nothing went wrong,” he said.
Most spectators during the festival tried to keep to the shade when possible, due to the summer heatwave. Those who sat out in the sun made sure they had their sunblock and sunglasses on.
This year’s event is the Ninth Edition of the Hawkesbury Country Music Festival. Paquette helped launch the project in 2016 during his term in office as a member of municipal council and he has lobbied every year for financial support of the festival as part of the municipal budget. There was a two-year hiatus for the festival during the COVID pandemic but the event has carried on strong since then and Paquette is sure it will remain part of Hawkesbury’s summer event profile.
“It’s important for this town,” he said.
