The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges after a disturbance in Hawkesbury.
On Saturday, August 30, just before 9 p.m., officers with the Hawkesbury Detachment of the OPP responded to reports of a distressed man banging on a house door. The person was not known to the people who owned the home.
The man knocking at the door refused to identify himself to the officers and became aggressive. During his arrest, the male struck one officer in the head and fled on foot. He was taken into custody a short time later but then kicked another officer.
Joel Vallee, age 37 of Montréal, has been charged with:
Assaulting a peace officer – two counts
Obstruct a peace officer
Trespass at night
The accused was eventually released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on Sept. 25.
