Marc Legault is the new infrastructure director for Champlain Township.
Township council confirmed Legault’s appointment in a press release issued August 12.
“We are pleased to welcome M. Legault to our team,” stated Mayor Normand Riopel. “His extensive experience, strong leadership, and deep understanding of municipal operations will be tremendous assets to the township. He will also play an important role in supporting knowledge transfer and preparing the next generation of leaders with the infrastructure department.”
Legault has almost three decades worth of experience in municipal service, first working at the Village of St-Isidore in The Nation Municipality and later holding a number of leadership roles in The Nation’s public works department. For the past 23 years he has been the public works director for The Nation Municipality, managing and planning all of the community’s infrastructure needs and services and ensuring that essential services are available to residents and local businesses.
“Infrastructure and public works have always been at the heart of my career,” stated Legault. “I am excited to join the Township of Champlain team and share my experience while supporting the next generation of municipal professionals.”
Legault takes over from Sebastien Levesque, township municipal engineer, who acted as the municipality’s interim infrastructure director since May 2026. Township council recognizes Levesque’s skill in overseeing the department’s overall operations during the past several months, and also the assistance of Public Works Supervisor Travis Katz and Public Works Administrative Assistant Chantal Jodouin, who both took on extra responsibilities to help maintain the department during the interim and ensure high-quality services delivery to residents.
