Two Québec women arrested in Hawkesbury in connection to alleged auto fraud scheme

Two women from Quebec are facing multiple criminal charges after the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested them in Hawkesbury for an alleged automobile financing fraud scheme.

The investigation began on September 2, 2026, when the Service de Police Ville de Mercier in Quebec contacted Ontario authorities. They warned that individuals were attempting to buy vehicles at dealerships using forged identification.

The accused are Veronica Espinal Correa, 41, of Montreal-Nord and Adriana Saintelmy, 30, of Saint-Laurent who are facing joint charges including identity fraud, personation to obtain property, identity theft, forgery counts, and fraud over $5,000.

Correa was held for a bail hearing, while Saintelmy was released to appear in L’Orignal court on December 2, 2026.
