A Hawkesbury man is charged with attempted murder.
OPP responded to a call early Saturday morning about an attack involving a weapon in residence located off of Main Street in Hawkesbury’s downtown district.
At 3 a.m. police attended at a residence on Higginson Street. The initial report to police was that a man had suffered a serious stab wound during an assault.
The suspect in the case had fled the area. The wounded man was taken to hospital for treatment of serious but not-life-threatening injuries.
Investigation identified a suspect in the case and several hours later police arrested a man in a location close to the Main Street downtown area. Several of the arresting officers involved wore body armour and carried assault rifles as a precaution.
Jason McGregor, 41, of Hawkesbury is charged with attempted murder. He remained in custody until a bail hearing was scheduled for Monday, October 27, at the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal.
Investigation continues in the case.
