Police are investigating an attempted vehicle theft in Hawkesbury in broad daylight after residents confronted the suspects, causing them to flee on foot.  

Around 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, a Hawkesbury family came home to see three males trying to steal their 2023 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck from their driveway. The family confronted the suspects who ran away on foot and in a red sedan. 

The suspects were described as black males in their early twenties and wearing all black clothing. 

The investigation is ongoing, according to police. 

The OPP is urging residents to take extra precautions to protect their vehicles from theft. Police suggest residents keep doors locked and windows up, store vehicles in a garage, block in higher value vehicles with other lower-value vehicles, install an aftermarket alarm system and gps tracker, keep keys in a faraday cage and never leave cars running and unattended.
