Doctor’s case adjourned as investigation continues

Dr. Brian Nadler, 35, was charged on March 26 with first degree murder over the death of Albert Poidinger, 89 at the Hawkesbury and District General Hospital. Nadler, who lives in Dollard-Des-Ormeaux, Quebec, had recently been living part time in L’Orignal. After a brief virtual appearance before the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on Tuesday, his case was adjourned to April 20. He maintains his innocence and the charge has not been proven in court.

Dr. Nadler was arrested as part of a Hawkesbury Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigation into “several suspicious deaths” at the hospital. On Thursday, the OPP said post-mortem examinations were complete, but analysis and toxicology reports from the Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service were expected to take several months.

“The OPP continues to support the families impacted by this case,” police spokesperson Bill Dickson said. “We have facilitated virtual meetings to ensure the family members understand the procedures being followed and roles of those involved.”

Anyone with information was asked to contact the Hawkesbury OPP at 1-888-310-1122, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or crimestoppers.ca.
