Emergency services were called to respond to a man barricaded in a duplex on James Street in Hawkesbury on Monday, November 8. The reason is not yet confirmed, but the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) apprehended a 32-year-old man under the authority of the Ontario Mental Health Act and took him to the Hawkesbury General Hospital for assessment.

Members of the Hawkesbury Fire Department and regional paramedics were on the scene on standby in case they were needed for assistance. 

Neither the man’s identity nor the reason for this incident are known. More details will be released as they become available.
