Hawks win one of three games last week

The Hawks dug their skates into the ice for a 4-3 overtime win against the Nepean Raiders last Wednesday night.

The Raiders got the jump on the scoreboard with Luka Benoit firing in the first goal of the game in the last minute of first period. Assisting him were Nick Houben and Andrew Thompson.

Hawkesbury got on the scoreboard midway through second period with a tying goal by Theodore Jette, assisted by Maxime Charbonneau and Fernand-Olivier Perron.

Third period saw both the Hawks and the Raiders scoring two goals each. Hawkesbury’s goals were courtesy of Aleksy Bandu, from Perron, and Jacob Skoczylas, for Jackson Porco and Alexis Trudeau. Scoring for Nepean were Mikayil Kahriman, from Tyler Smith, and Kahriman again from Thompson and Peter Freel.

With just over a minute on the ice during the overtime period, Gabriel Pelchat scored the winning point for Hawkesbury in a solo goal effort.

Hawks vs. Grads

Last Friday night at the Robert Hartley Sports Complex, the Hawks hosted the Navan Grads, and suffered a 4-2 loss.

Navan’s Wake Purdy put the Grads on the scoreboard first early in first period, with assists from Shaan Kingwell and Louis Marcellino.

The Grads added another point in the first minute of second period with a goal by Kyle Kussman, from Kingwell and Marty Magaletta. Jackson Porco got Hawkesbury on the scoreboard at the midway point, with help from Gabriel Pelchat and Jacob Skoczylas.

Third period saw the Grads extend their lead further with a goal from Colin Holmes in the first two minutes, assisted by Kingwell and Cole Jenken. Fernand-Olivier Perron answered by for the Hawks two minutes before the end of the game. Helping him on the goal were Pelchat and Maxime Charbonneau. Sebbie Jackson popped in the last goal for the Grads on an empty net in the final 30 seconds of the game. Assisting him were Jenken and Aidan Connors.

Hawks at Carleton Place

Hawkesbury came close on the scoreboard against Carleton Place on Sunday.

Jacob Skoczylas gave the Hawks their opening point on a power-play effort in the first two minutes of the game. Helping him on the goal were Fernand-Olivier Perron and Maxime Charbonneau.

Jackson Froysland answered back for the Canadians at the period midmark, with assists from William Bouwer and Anthony Katzitheodosiou. Finn Barton broke the tie in the Canadians’ favour in the last 30 seconds of the period with a power-play goal, assisted by Bouwer and Calum Hartnell.

Neither team managed a goal in second period. The first minute of third period saw Froysland score for the Canadians, with assists from Bouwer and Sam Allaby. Miller Kay extended the lead further for Carleton Place with a power-play goal, aided by Cole Mathews and Brady Blaseg.

Perron punched in a power-play point for Hawkesbury in the last six minutes of the game. Assisting were Charbonneau and Hutchinson Rose. Aleksy Bandu popped in one final goal for the Hawks on another power-play, with help from Charbonneau and Skoczylas.

The game finished 4-3 for the Canadians.

The Hawks are in North Grenville January 22 against Kemptville. They return home Friday to host Cornwall.
