The last day of August was Fun Day in Hawkesbury.

The Parks and Recreation Department had scheduled the annual Fun Day/Journée des loisirs for Saturday at Parc Cadieux.

But rainy weather in the region last Friday carried over to early Saturday morning, with overcast skies through the day threatening more rain. The department posted a notice on the Hawkesbury municipal Facebook page and placed signs at the park entrance announcing that the event was rescheduled to Sunday.

Sunday the weather turned bright and sunny as parks and recreation staff and volunteers from several of the event sponsors set up equipment.

Families started trickling in at the official start time of 10 a.m. and by noon hour the park was full of children running around and playing, with some parents joining in on the games or else standing or sitting and chatting as they watched their children have fun.
